Our Proposal

Tasmanian-based THN Hospitality Pty Ltd (THN) is pleased to have been named the preferred proponent to develop a boutique hotel at Oatlands.

Following a rigorous selection process and detailed collaboration, the Southern Midlands Council and THN have signed a Development and Sale Agreement which addresses the conditions under which the project can progress.

The preliminary concept design, led by multidisciplinary design firm Fender Katsalidis, for the hotel and precinct development at 10-16 Barrack Street featured 43 accommodation rooms, dining and event facilities, and space for related retail/service experiences. It responds to the Historic Heritage Context and Design Guidelines set out by Council and incorporates Georgian architectural principles interpreted to enable a contemporary approach.

The final brand will be developed during the coming design and approval phases.

  • This design-led, boutique hotel development in Tasmania’s midlands will completely change the accommodation landscape for visitors and locals alike.

The hotel will be a destination in its own right, drawing design inspiration from a modern interpretation of Georgian architectural principles.

Combining materials and design which create an escapist journey through mythical, untamed and intriguing spaces, this hotel will call on the defiance and innate beauty of Oatlands to inspire unique guest experiences and comfort.

  • Highlighting the very best of local produce, dining and event experiences will match the physically unpretentious yet other-wordly surrounds.

  • Meeting and event spaces are central to this concept and along with high quality accommodation, the proposal includes a range of flexible board, meeting and hospitality options that will appeal to corporate and incentive markets - work, rest and play!

  • The boutique hotel proposes a truly unique way to celebrate a special occasion for 150-200 guests, and has been designed to maximise the experience of those seeking to hold a destination event.
